1. (of a vehicle) slide, typically sideways or obliquely, on slippery ground or as a result of stopping or turning too quickly.
2. fasten a skid to (a wheel) as a brake.
명사)
1. an act of skidding or sliding.
2. a runner attached to the underside of an aircraft for use when landing on snow or grass.
3. a braking device consisting of a wooden or metal shoe preventing a wheel from revolving.
4. a beam or plank used to support a ship under construction or repair.
obviate: 사전에 (위험, 곤란 따위 등을) 제거하다.
동사) remove (a need or difficulty).
유의어) preclude
showstopper: (비공식용어) -
1. a performance or item receiving prolonged applause from the audience.
cf) A showstopper is something very positive. It's sort of the opposite to a dealbreaker, which is negative.
Anchor site:
- Chemical anchoring is a technique for fastening to concrete and similar substrates that provides more flexibility than mechanical anchoring.
- Chemical anchors —also known as chemical studs—can also be placed towards the edge of concrete substrates and through masonry block
Metalation: (Alt. spelling: Metallation) is a chemical reaction that forms a bond to a metal.
- Post-synthetic modifications (PSM) on MOFs, in which chemical transformations or exchanges are made on pre-synthesized MOF materials, are found to be a powerful strategy for fabricating photoactive MOFs based on already existing MOFs.
Impregnation (침투 - 학문용어로 침착; 촉매 합성 관련)
- There are three common methods of impregnation are dry vacuum-pressure, dry vacuum, and wet vacuum.
Fiber spinning is used to make synthetic fibers for use in many industries.
- In fiber spinning, a liquid polymer is extruded through small holes in a spinneret to form thin filaments.
- Upon leaving the spinneret the filaments solidify. After solidification, filaments can be combined to make threads and/or drawn to change the filaments’ properties.
cf) spinneret
1. A spinneret is a silk producing organ possessed by spiders and some insects (often caterpillars of butterflies and moths). Spinnerets are tubular or conical structures and silk is produced in liquid form at the tip.
2. (Polymers) A spinneret is a device used to extrude a polymer solution or polymer melt to form fibers.
Desiccant (건조제): A desiccant is a hygroscopic substance that is used to induce or sustain a state of dryness (desiccation) in its vicinity; it is the opposite of a humectant.
FBO - FBO stands for “for the benefit of.” It can appear in many types of financial and legal documents. You will see it most often in living trust documents. But, the term "FBO" can appear on any account or asset that carries a beneficiary designation.
Front-end loading (FEL) - also referred to as pre-project planning (PPP), front-end engineering design (FEED), feasibility analysis, conceptual planning, programming/schematic design and early project planning.
Recapping (비공식용어) - 요약하다: To recap is to briefly explain something by giving just the main points or details.
이메일 표현 - The trip was uneventful.
- If you describe a period of time as uneventful, you mean that nothing interesting, exciting, or important happened during it. The return trip was uneventful, the car running perfectly.
POC: A proof of concept (POC) is an exercise in which work is focused on determining whether an idea can be turned into a reality. A proof of concept is meant to determine the feasibility of the idea or to verify that the idea will function as envisioned.
